"SCA AdBlue® is a fully licensed AdBlue® diesel exhaust fluid for SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology in diesel vehicles. SCA AdBlue® contains 32.5% w/w of urea (AUS 32), which is mixed with demineralised water. The solution is odourless and a non-toxic formulation.
Vehicles that use SCR are fitted with a diesel exhaust catalyst or DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). In this system, a urea solution is injected into the hot exhaust gas reaching the exhaust catalyst or DPF. The solution then makes contact with the hot exhaust gases, releasing ammonia. When this reaches the DPF, a reaction occurs where noxious gases are broken down into nitrogen, oxygen and water. This effect of this reaction reduces noxious emissions to almost zero.
